Rev Up Reading

Although students use comprehension strategies in an integrated way while reading, we believe that teaching the strategies separately and explicitly ultimately enhances the students' comprehension of literature and informational text. Rev Up Reading Comprehension Strategies provides you with the material to explicitly teach eight comprehension strategies.

The strategies we have choosen for the packs are:
*  asking and answering questions
*  comparing and contrasting
*  interpreting points of view
 * making inferences and drawing conclusions
*  summarising
*  identifying main ideas
*  recognising cause and effects relationships
*  identifying chronological and sequential order

Each pack includes:
*  a CD of the material required to explicity teach the strategy to the whole class
*  48 cards (six each of eight paired, fact and fiction Rev Up cards at four levels) for differentiated instruction and
    guided practice. Each card has approximately 300 words divided into three seperate sections.
*  A detailed lesson plan for each card. The lesson plan includes specific outcomes for both the content of the card 
    and the comprehension strategy
*  A strategy assessment check sheet
*  Photocopiable graphic organisers to assist students extract, organise, and present information
*  Package storage box
